Open House highlights brain injury awareness

The Fort Carson Intrepid Spirit Center hosted an Open House Friday, March 21, 2025, to increase awareness for the center’s services, and to support Brain Injury Awareness Month. The Fort Carson Intrepid Spirit Center, or ISC, is a state-of-the-art treatment facility dedicated to the assessment and care of concussions and other forms of brain Injuries.

Community partnership facilitates training opportunity

An Evans Army Community Hospital Soldier is ready for her upcoming deployment, thanks to a recent collaboration with a local Colorado Springs hospital. Staff Sgt. Carlie Pack, a 68P Radiology Specialist assigned to the EACH Radiology Department, was tasked to support an upcoming deployment, but wanted some additional training on a Computed Tomography, or CT, scanner that wasn’t available at Fort Carson.

Evans undergoes Joint Commission survey

Surveyors from The Joint Commission visited Evans Army Community Hospital, Feb. 4-7, 2025, to evaluate the facility for triennial re-accreditation. The Joint Commission is a global enterprise driver of quality improvement and patient safety in health care. They provide leading practices, unmatched knowledge and expertise, and rigorous standards to help organizations across the continuum of care toward zero harm.

Medical training exercise enhances skills, fosters collaboration

Evans Army Community Hospital hosted a comprehensive cadaver training exercise Jan. 29-30, 2025, to enhance the skills of medical professionals in a realistic and immersive environment. The training brought together more than 230 medical professionals from across the Colorado Military Health System and focused on training in 31 Individual Critical Tasks, or ICTs.

Evans earns top marks in national safety assessment

Evans Army Community Hospital received the highest score amongst all military healthcare facilities in the Leapfrog Group’s fall 2024 assessment released Nov. 15, 2024. The Leapfrog Group is a national, independent organization that focuses on healthcare quality. Leapfrog evaluates hospital safety measures such as errors, injuries, and infections. Their grading system uses more than 30 national performance indicators.

Mass casualty exercise tests hospital’s emergency response capabilities

Evans Army Community Hospital tested its emergency response capabilities Sept. 19, 2024, as part of Mountain Medic 2024, a U.S. Northern Command joint readiness exercise involving both active and reserve medical forces from the Army, Air Force and Space Forces in the Colorado Springs community.

Military family member on a journey to better health

Robin Campbell is on a journey – a life-long journey to be the healthiest version of herself. She is currently a fitness instructor at a local gym, but three years ago she was looking for a path to better health and fitness. That road to wellness included a stop at Evans Army Community Hospital’s Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, where she underwent bariatric surgery which has helped her lose more than 100 pounds.

Collaboration improves surgical recovery process for EACH patients

Many surgery patients at Evans Army Community Hospital now have the option to go home on the same day they have surgery, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the hospital’s Surgery Department, Family Care Ward and the hospital’s workflow committee.
