Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is this were I get shots?
A. No, we do not administer immunizations.
Q. If I am only dropping off a specimen, do I need to take a ticket?
A. Yes.
Q. How early can I get my blood drawn?
A. We open at 7:00 a.m. for all outpatient clinical laboratory procedures.
Q. How do I get my lab results?
A. The laboratory staff are not authorized to release lab results to patients. Only hospital correspondence or providers can release lab results.
Q. I need to do a blood glucose test, I heard it will take a few hours, when is the latest I can arrive at the laboratory?
A. For 3-hour glucose, 2-hour glucose, and lactose tolerance tests you must book an appointment and be prepared to arrive no later than 11:00 a.m.; for a 1-hour glucose, no later than 3:00 p.m.
Q. I have a multi-part test or a 24-hour urine collection that needs to be completed on the weekend, how do I go about doing this if the outpatient laboratory is closed on the weekends and holidays?
A. Please contact the laboratory during normal duty hours, these are not uncommon and are dealt with on a case by case basis.
Q. I have a fasting test, what am I authorized to eat or drink?
A. Please do not eat 10-12 hours prior to the test. Drink as much water as you want and only black coffee (no cream or sugar, to include artificial sugar). You can take all directed medications as needed.
