Mammography

About

Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses low dose radiation to image breast tissue, which results in a recommendation from a radiologist. This imaging is used to help in the early detection and diagnosis of breast disease. The Cindy Fowler Breast Clinic has digital mammography capability, which decreases your appointment time. We provide continuity and transitional services from screening exams, ultrasound breast exams, other breast imaging when required, to surgical care.

Services

Information
  • In keeping with the recommendations of the American Cancer Society, we recommend yearly screening mammograms beginning at age 40. If you feel a new or unusual lump during your monthly breast self-exam, have nipple discharge, dimpling or puckering of the skin on your breast, or any other irregularities, please consult with your physician and get a prescription for a diagnostic examination before your annual exam is due.
  • A patient can self-refer for screening mammograms. If your physician is not a participating network provider for Evans Army Community Hospital, please provide a full name and phone number when calling for your annual exam. Please provide the clinic with a facility name for previous mammograms or pre-request them before making the appointment.
  • We care about the time you spend with us, so to help optimize that, we are able to schedule your bone densitometry (DEXA) or well women (pap smear) all on the same day. Just call 719-526-CARE (2273).
  • After your mammogram is completed, notification of your results will be mailed to your address. You can call 719-526-7886 if you have not received our results.
