Intensive Outpatient Program

About

The Intensive Outpatient Program treatment is primarily for Active Duty Service Members (SMs) who have not made adequate progress in routine outpatient behavioral health treatment and are in need of more robust, intensive treatment without the restrictions of a psychiatric inpatient setting. IOP also provides care for SMs that have been recently discharged from inpatient treatment and need more intensive therapy than what can be provided in a weekly outpatient setting.

Emergency Information

If you are in crisis, please do not hesitate to seek assistance from local emergency services (Call 911). Of course, you can always access our clinic, or if after hours, go to the EACH Emergency Department for care.

IOP-Stabilization

This track meets three days per week for five weeks, four hours per day from 0830-1230 every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The group is limited to approximately 12 members . New members start the group each Wednesday of the week. The focus of the group is to provide intense psychoeducation pertaining to crisis stabilization, resiliency skills, medication and symptoms management, and health issues management (such as sleep hygiene, pain management, nutrition awareness and substance abuse). This group will capture SMs being discharged from acute in-patient hospitalization and/or others in the need of immediate higher level of care.

IOP-Resiliency

This track meets four days per week for five weeks, four hours per day from 0830-1230 every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The group is limited to approximately 12 members. New members start the group each Tuesday of the week. The IOP-Resiliency model focuses on core-mindfulness, strengthening distress tolerance skills, emotional regulation, skills and interpersonal effectiveness skills for better long-term physical health and emotional well-being.

IOP-Trauma Resolution

IOP-TR groups meet four days per week for six weeks from 1230-1630; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. The enrollment is limited to approximately 12 members per group. This track operates on the same premises as IOP-R with some important differences. First, it is a closed group, meaning group members start and finish the program together due to its use of a sequential cognitive therapy treatment (CPT-C, an evidence-based treatment for PTSD). Second, it is offered to Active Duty SMs with PTSD/or spectrum symptoms, depression, anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, etc., resulting from deployments. The group is limited to individuals who have experienced combat.

Services

Information
  • While enrolled in the IOP participants are encouraged and expected to continue to meet with their regular Clinical Behavioral Healthcare Providers (CBHP) who resume full responsibility for the SM’s care during and following the completion of the IOP treatment. While IOP staff consult with the SMs regular CBHP, all decisions regarding SM’s diagnosis(es), medication, admission and disposition (i.e., return to duty, MEB, Chapter) will be made by the SM’s CBHP . Participants enrolled in IOP will require IOP formal intakes. Attendance is critical for the success of the SM progress while in IOP.
